Road work alert-Clinton Avenue

Clinton Avenue resurfacing Carney Dr to 6th: May 2026 The City of St. Clair has contracted with Astec Asphalt, Inc to resurface Clinton Avenue from 6th to Carney Dr. The project involves the removal of the top layer of asphalt by cold milling and asphalt resurfacing of Clinton Avenue from Carney Drive to 6th Street; in addition to curb and gutter replacement and concrete base repairs as necessary, curb ramp replacement to current ADA standards, and other miscellaneous related items of work. The project is expected to cost $803,208.72. The City was successful in obtaining a Transportation Economic Development Category F grant through MDOT to fund a portion on the construction cost for this projet in the amount of $375,000. Cleaning, inspection of Bridge over Pine River-May 12

April 30, 2026 Media contact: Caitlyn French, FrenchC4@Michigan.gov, 989-573-1274 Cleaning, inspection of St. Clair County bascule bridges May 11-12 PORT HURON, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be performing an annual cleaning and safety inspection on the I-69/I-94 BL (Military Street) bridge over the Black River in Port Huron on May 11 and on the M-29 bridge over the Pine River in St. Clair on May 12. Inspections will be done during 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. During this work, single-lane closures will be in place. This cleaning and inspection will help ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the bridges. Lane closures during this type of work are necessary to provide the safest work area possible for crews and motorists.

DWSRF & CWSRF Water and Sewer improvement proposals

The City of St. Clair will hold a public comment period and a public meeting on the proposed Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Water Main Replacement Program and Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Sanitary Sewer System Improvements Program for the purpose of receiving comments from interested persons. The meeting has been scheduled for Monday, April 20, at 6:00pm, during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting in the City Council chambers, located at St. Clair City Hall, 547 North Carney Drive, St. Clair, Michigan 48079. The purpose of the proposed DWSRF project is to replace all aging 4-inch water mains within the City’s water distribution system with new 8-inch water mains and to replace known lead or galvanized water services connected to 4-inch water mains with copper water services to comply with current regulations for water distribution systems established by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). The purpose of the proposed CWSRF project is to rehabilitate certain locations within the sanitary sewer system that were identified to be in poor structural condition. AT&T has ground units located throughout the city. These often appear light blue or green in cylinder or pyramid shape. Several appear rusted, damaged, open or generally unsightly. If you see an AT&T ground unit that is broken down, open or in poor condition, please report its location to the City so we can document it and work with AT&T to address the issue.
