The city’s planning commission advises the governing body on land use, development and planning issues. They prepare and recommend plans, zoning and other land controls. The city planning commission is created in accordance with the provisions of Act No. 33 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 2008 (MCL 125.3801 et seq.) as amended.
The city planning commission shall consist of seven members, one of whom shall be a member of the city council to be selected by resolution of the city council to serve as a member ex officio with full voting rights. The remaining six members shall be appointed by the mayor. All members of the city planning commission shall serve without compensation. Eligibility for office, term of office, and removal from office, shall be governed by the provisions of section 15 of the Michigan Planning Enabling Act (MCL 125.3815) as amended.
The Planning Commission meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00PM. Meetings are held in the Municipal Building: 547 N. Carney Drive, St Clair, MI 48079.
