Thursday, July 9th -Traffic Switch
As you are aware, the City of St. Clair has awarded Astec Asphalt, Inc. of Brown City, Michigan
the contract to resurface Clinton Avenue from Carney Drive to 6th Street. Earlier this week, the
Contractor placed the top asphalt layer on the westbound (north) side of Clinton Avenue and have
adjusted all structures to final grade. Weather dependent, the Contractor plans to pave the top
asphalt layer on the eastbound (south) side of Clinton Avenue on Friday, July 10.
To complete this work, Astec Asphalt is scheduled to shift traffic on Thursday, July 9, no
earlier than 4pm. One-way traffic will be accessible allowing westbound traffic on Clinton
Avenue from 6th Street to Carney Drive; eastbound traffic on Clinton Avenue will be
detoured to Fred W. Moore Highway. All adjacent side streets will be accessible from Clinton
Avenue and access to all businesses will be maintained, except for a brief period when new
asphalt is being placed directly in front of these locations. Detours around the construction site
will be posted.

Starting June 22nd—Lane Closure switch—Westbound Traffic will now have a detour—Eastbound Traffic will be open
As you are aware, the City of St. Clair has awarded Astec Asphalt, Inc. the contract to resurface Clinton Avenue from Carney Drive to 6th Street. To date, the Contractor has removed the existing asphalt surface, completed concrete base and curb repairs where required, and replaced sidewalk ramps to be compliant with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards along the eastbound (south) side of Clinton Avenue. This project is slightly behind schedule due to recent rain, but work along the eastbound (south) side of Clinton Avenue is nearing completion. The Contractor is paved the mainline asphalt base layer for Stage 1 June 19, and will be working June 20, to pave the asphalt base layer for all street returns. Astec Asphalt is scheduled to shift traffic to begin construction on the westbound (north) side of Clinton Avenue on Monday, June 22.
*****As an update and contrary to the Start of Project notice distributed on May 16, one-way traffic will be accessible allowing eastbound traffic on Clinton Avenue from Carney Drive to 6th Street; westbound traffic on Clinton Avenue will now be detoured to Fred W. Moore Highway.*****

The City of St. Clair has contracted with Astec Asphalt, Inc to resurface Clinton Avenue from 6th to Carney Dr. The project involves the removal of the top layer of asphalt by cold milling and asphalt resurfacing of Clinton Avenue from Carney Drive to 6th Street; in addition to curb and gutter replacement and concrete base repairs as necessary, curb ramp replacement to current ADA standards, and other miscellaneous related items of work. The project is expected to cost $803,208.72. The City was successful in obtaining a Transportation Economic Development Category F grant through MDOT to fund a portion on the construction cost for this projet in the amount of $375,000. The project is expected to begin the week of May 26th.
